For Those Who Love Their Greens

Here on the Emerald Coast where the sunny days can be spent on the beach or on the water, the promise of escape with rewards of relaxation and excitement are all perfectly blended. In Panama City Beach each new day promises to be another sun filled day lighting the way for another indulgence and memory. Although many say “Life’s a beach,” for others it’s a whole different story.

For those who love their greens, not far removed from the water’s edge, one can find several magnificent golf courses like those at Bay Point Marriott Golf Resort & Spa. Here are two of the most spectacular 18-hole golf courses along the Florida panhandle. This resort offers each guest the choice of two distinct and award winning courses. The first is the Nicklaus Course with its panoramic views of St. Andrew’s Bay and is the only Nicklaus Design in the Florida panhandle, and the second is the Meadows Course at Bay Point.

This treasured jewel of a resort set, here in the Emerald Coast, boasts to be the epitome of country club golf while its gentle breezes from Andrew’s Bay blow away the occasional fog accumulated by life’s repetitive routines. Whether an avid golfer or a novice, both will find their game an escape filled with excitement since every hole promises a mental challenge. The day is spent playing a competitive course through an artistic blend of natural terrain with various fairways, numerous bunkers and lakes surrounded by scrub oaks, whispering pines and the salt water marshes full of wild life.

Hombre Golf Club is one of the Premier Championship Golf Resorts in the Sunshine State. Like many of Panama City Beach’s golf clubs, Hombre is nestled amidst wetlands, marshes, lakes and preserves, and meticulously maintained to PGA specifications with a spectacular collection of scrub oaks, palms, whispering pines and azaleas lining the way.

Famously known for its hosting of PGA Tour Qualifying School, Hombre Golf Club has four sets of tees and comprehensive practice facility with driving range, chipping green with sand bunker and a nice putting green. Hombre is both delightfully scenic and challenging at every turn of your game.

Another great local Panama City golf club is Bay Dunes Golf Club. This fine golf course, amid rolling green hills, is a public facility only 7 miles north of the Panama City Mall just minutes from motels and beaches. This is without a doubt another one of the jewels of Florida’s panhandle and an absolute paradise of green fairways, water and sky with18-hole championship course to guarantee a pleasurable round for golfers of every skill level.

Holiday Golf Club, Bay Counties only illuminated 9-hole Par 3 course, is located one short mile, (or just a few good hits with your driver) from Panama City Beach. Though this course is a semi-private, 18-hole par 72 championship course that was ingenuously designed to challenge the pros, it has still proven to be a fun challenge for the entire family and many who repeatedly make it their escape of choice.

With excellent practice areas, Holiday Golf Club offers a chipping green and a very respectable putting green as well as an illuminated driving range. With its various lakes, water ways, fairways and elevated greens guarded by bunkers of silky white sand, this course will make you glad you brought along every club in your bag.
