Deer Lake State Park

A nature lover’s paradise, Deer Lake State Park, offers visitors a rare glimpse into the coastal dune lake habitat.  Coastal dune lakes are extremely rare worldwide.  In the United State, they are only found along the Gulf Coast, making this a hidden treasure to be sure!  Many varieties of plants grace this natural wonder, including southern magnolias, woody goldenrod, scrub oak, and golden asters.  Rare plants, such as spoonflower, pitcher plants, gulf coast lupine and Curtiss’ sand grass can be found in the park.  Visitors may also see one of the many species of resident or migratory birds and butterflies that grace this wide open wonder.

Activities include picnicking, swimming, fishing, bicycling, hiking, and of course, nature viewing and study. This 1,995 acre state park does not offer camping accommodations.

Come experience the natural wonder that is Deer Lake State Park.  The spoonflowers and goldenrods, the birds and the butterflies, invite you as their guest and hope you’ll leave as their friend.
