Blue Marlin

The Blue Marlin may be considered the ultimate in big game fish.  Striking in appearance, the Blue Marlin is a true beauty with cobalt blue coloring on top that shades to a silvery white beneath.  The upper jaw is elongated, forming a spear.  The anal, pectoral and dorsal fins are all pointed, with no dark spots on the dorsal fin.  This fish is a deep-sea fish that migrates across the Atlantic. Using their long spear-like bill to stun or slice their prey, they are solitary hunters that feed mostly in the daytime.  It is important to note that the Blue Marlin is currently considered a threatened species by the IUCN due to overfishing.
