Cobia

Found in nearshore and inshore waters with inlets and bays, the cherished Cobia is an angler’s prize.  This is a long, slim fish with a broad head and lower protruding jaw and dark lateral stripe that runs the length from eye to tail.  They spawn in Spring and early Summer.

Method of Fishing - Sight Fishing

Tackle - Heavy spinning rod with 15 to 20 lb mono line and a 3' leader of wire or 50 lb mono. Hooks sizes 2/0 to 4/0.

Bait - Natural baits such as fish, crabs, and shrips, and artificials such as large plugs, and jigs with yellow or white skirts.
