Wahoo

This offshore member of the mackerel family, has a long, streamlined with about 30 dark wavy bars for camouflage. The Wahoo is known for their tremendous runs and shifts in directions.  Wahoo are caught by trolling bait and artificial lures on flatlines.

 

Method of Fishing- Trolling and drift fishing

Tackle - Use a 30 to 50 lb class rod and 30 to 50 lb nylon line and a flat hook of 5/0 to 10/0.

Bait - Use a Kona Head or natural bait such as whole mullet or ballyhoo. For drift fishing use a live baitfish on hook sizes 5/0 to 8/0.
